Students often compared Rick Doolin to a superhero, so his death to a rare cancer in June shook the campus community at Daytona State College where he had been a science professor for nearly a decade. On Monday students dressed as superheros such as Thor, Batman and Superman to honor their fallen professor and raise awareness about mesothelioma – an aggressive cancer so rare that fewer than 3,000 cases are reported each year.
