Speaker Sheldon Silver is taking a leave of absence from his outside job with a top trial law firm, the Daily News has learned. Weitz & Luxenberg released a statement to The News Wednesday morning announcing that Silver would no longer be doing work for the firm as he defends himself against charges that he used his powerful state position to drive business to the firm, receiving a portion of the profits in return.
