Former Gove refinery worker awarded asbestos compensation

A 74-year-old former Northern Territory worker at the Gove alumina refinery who is dying from asbestos-related disease has been awarded $425,000 in compensation, after appealing a decision that saw his claim dismissed on a technicality. Zorko Zabic worked at the Gove alumina refinery in the 1970s cleaning asbestos from pipes, and was diagnosed with mesothelioma after suffering chest pains early last year.
