When Courtney Davis got married last summer, she posed in her gown with a large placard: “Message2Congress: If you had banned asbestos, maybe my dad would have been here to give me away.” Davis’ father, Larry W. Davis of Southington, Conn., died in July 2012 of mesothelioma, a cancer of the lining of the chest that is 100 percent preventable because is caused by exposure to asbestos fibers.
