Appeal court to hand down decision on BHP damages payout for steelworker

The Court of Appeal will today decide if it will force BHP Billiton to honour a $2.2 million damages payout to a terminally ill ex-Newcastle steelworker. Steven Dunning, 54, is suffering from terminal mesothelioma after inhaling asbestos dust while working on BHP’s steel blast furnaces in Newcastle in the 1980s.
