Metal Recycling Company that Violated Asbestos & Mercury Regulations Fined

In August, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection announced that a metal recycling business in the state has been assessed over $35,000 in penalties for violating mercury and asbestos regulations. MassDEP had inspected the recycling plant on two occasions in 2013 and found asbestos-containing materials on the ground that were not contained as well as recycling activities that did not remove components with mercury before crushing operations took place.
