JANE Capaldi has planned spending her retirement looking after her grandchildren, making up for lost time away from them having worked across Scotland and abroad as a social worker. But her life came to a standstill in June last year when the 63-year-old was diagnosed with mesothelioma, a debilitating form of cancer usually caused by exposure to asbestos fibres.
